Three Generations of Vogt Family Women

Strong women. May we know them, may we be them, may we raise them. This phrase is one of my favorites and is one of the first things that comes to mind photographing a multi-generational family session, especially families as wonderful as the three generations of Voget women.

I had the pleasure of photographing this small family reunion, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. With their gentleness and laughter, they made my job feel less like work and more like a joyous celebration of togetherness.

The session was originally set as a mother-daughter session but it transformed into a bigger family session with the addition of Gigi’s daughter-in-law and granddaughter. The four ladies enjoyed visiting with each other for the week and taking little J to explore new parts of Montana before their final stop with me to capture precious moments.

Setting the Scene

We chose Cherry River for our session, a beautiful spot known for its mountain views, serenity, and long grasses. The weather was perfect—a beautiful golden sun—which created the ideal backdrop for capturing their personalities. I couldn’t have asked for a better place for them.

Capturing Authentic Moments

As we started shooting, I encouraged them to interact naturally—laughing, sharing stories, and going for a casual stroll. Some of my favorite moments were little J’s smile giving her mom and aunt kisses and watching Gigi’s big smile holding her only grandchild. These genuine emotions are what truly bring family photos to life.

Final Thoughts

After the session, I was thrilled to go through the images and see how beautifully they captured the essence of the Voget family women viewed through three generations. Each photo tells a story—full of laughter, love, and the simple joys of being together.

If you’re considering a family photography session, remember that it’s all about celebrating your unique bond. Whether you choose a formal setup or a relaxed environment, the most important thing is to be yourselves. These amazing ladies nailed it. I enjoyed listening to them review their plans for the next family reunion.

Thank you, Voget ladies, for allowing me to be a part of your family’s story! I am so excited to share these final images.
