I take a lot of photos of this pair and I am so grateful. They are very near and dear to me, although physically location-wise, they could be nearer. Each year, Debbie sends out a family Christmas card with a photo and this past Christmas was no exception. For this year’s Christmas card, she needed to get an updated professional photo of her and Fred and conveniently, they were in Colorado at the right time! She has never had a formal photography session with just her and Fred probably since their wedding over 40 years ago! I was so happy to be able to provide this service for them several months ago.
We decided to do their session at Cheyenne Mountain State Park in Colorado Springs. The park has some beautiful dirt trails loaded with views of long grasses and of course a giant mountain in the background. Although Cheyenne Mountain is not quite as iconic as Pike’s Peak, it is still quite well known around Colorado Springs.
We had to get to the location early in the afternoon because the sun sets behind the mountain rather quickly in the late fall and winter months. Regardless, there was the perfect stream of sunlight that really gave their photos some glowing magic.
As a pair who has essentially never had professional couples photos, they did great! Debbie really started getting into it twirling her dress, laughing, and tossing her flowers into the air. Fred was certainly a bit more reserved, but even by the end, he said it was a good time!
I hope you enjoy their photos and hopefully I will get the opportunity to photography them again soon here in Montana!
